What is the 6° Initiative?

The 6 Degree Initiative is a church planting movement focusing on the unreached people groups just north of the equator in West Africa. This area spans the balmy African coast that has been greatly impacted most by Voodoo and the exportation of precious human life through the slave trade. 6 Degree is partnering with national leaders to plant churches in the least-reached cities of the region. A concentrated church planting movement within these culturally significant cities serves as a launching pad for ministry into smaller communities. Joshua Freeman is the current Six Degree Team Leader.

6 Degree Initiative, Togo, West Africa

My name is Stephanie Alderman and I'm a second-generation global worker. My parents, a bush pilot and nurse, began church planting in Togo when I was 2 years old. Affected by seeing God change the lives of the Togolese, I came to believe that God was leading me to a life of service overseas. I landed on the ground in 2018 as part of the 6º team focusing on Next Gen. I'm passionate about and driven to see these developing leaders be reproducing, bold faith followers of Christ. With 70% of the population under the age of 30 we have a prime opportunity to reach and form this next generation of disciples.

Thank you for partnering with me to impact Togo for Christ!

6 Degree Initiative, Togo, West Africa

We are James, Jenna, and Micah Roberts. James is originally from Savannah Georgia and Jenna is from Raleigh North Carolina. We met while serving on staff at Snowbird Outfitters in Western North Carolina. It is there that we both felt our call to missions and were connected to the Six Degree Initiative. In 2019, we had the opportunity to take a vision trip to Togo to see the ministry and meet the team. While on the trip we had such a peace about Togo being the place God would have us serve. We both have such a heart for middle and high-school-aged students. Both of us were so deeply impacted by the adults in our lives during our youth years who took the time to mentor and disciple us. Likewise, we are also passionate about making disciples and pointing others to know and follow Jesus. With our heart being geared towards youth, and having spent five years working in youth ministry in the states we saw how we could jump in and help serve in the Camp and Youth Ministry currently happening here in Togo. We landed on the field in July of 2022.

Worldventure Ministries

Brian Larson provides member care to missionaries as pastoral counselor with Worldventure. Providing member care to Soldiers as an US Army National Guard chaplain.

Vision for ministry - As a pastoral counselor for Worldventure, I seek to prepare missionaries to live and serve cross-culturally, sustain and support them during their life and ministry overseas, and restore when difficulty or crisis hits.

As a chaplain for the National Guard I seek to provide religious support to the 193rd Military Police Battalion. Through pastoral care and direct gospel outreach to Soldiers, I am able to grow God’s Kingdom in a population that has many challenges and difficulties and many do not know the Lord.

Neighborhood Church, South Jordan, Utah

David and Victoria Henderson began to sense God’s leading to plant a church in the greater Salt Lake City area in the spring of 2018. On a vision trip to the area in 2019, they felt a strong sense of confirmation from the Lord, and were introduced to the community where they are dreaming to plant – Daybreak. David served as the Executive Pastor at CHBC for 3 years before the family moved to Daybreak, UT in September 2020 to plant Neighborhood Church, whose mission is to lead our neighbors to life-changing relationships with Jesus.

Daybreak is a master-planned community in the city of South Jordan, UT. Located in the southwestern portion of Salt Lake County, it is a prime starting point to spread the gospel south into Utah County (over 85% LDS) and west into Tooele County (70% LDS) as the Hendersons dream is to plant a church that plants more churches in these areas. Daybreak is rapidly expanding. It was listed among the 10 fastest-growing communities in the US in 2020.

The Hendersons believe that Daybreak itself is a metaphor for the heartbreaking contrast between external appearance and internal reality for the people of Utah. Beyond the pristine lawns and 6-foot white-washed fences, inside the meticulously planned homes lies so much hurt, pain, and darkness. So many people are longing for something more – for the light of hope to break through the darkness. As thousands of both Utahns and out-of-state transplants move into Daybreak, David and Victoria hope to catch them in their time of transition. The Henderson’s prayer is that for many, a new normal will include a life-changing, personal relationship with Jesus.
